Enema Or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation Managed With Intestinal Cleansing

Ever had an enema? Do you suffer from constipation? If you suffer from abdominal cramps, bloating and some diarrhea then you might be a sufferer of irritable bowel syndrome. If you are looking for relief, good news…

The subtle symptoms creep into our life one at a time until we find a barrage of complications we never had before. Constipation is the most obvious difference, then pain, abdominal cramps and bloating followed with occasional diarrhea, all add up to irritable bowel syndrome.

Our lifestyles have shaped our habits to fit an unnatural pattern of elimination. We eat and rush to work or school, suppressing the natural elimination that should occur within 20 minutes after eating.

Some individuals may wait as long as a week between bowel movements. This only complicates the impaction, toxic build up in the bowel, which comes back into the blood stream as toxic waste, and creates a need for laxatives or enemas.

Enema can be a natural remedy for irritable bowel syndrome and constipation. The early 1900′s medical practice was that when a patient was admitted to the hospital for any ailment, the patient first received an enema. A bit messy and inconvenient, enema is usually a last resort. Diet and intestinal cleanse using all natural herbs has become more popular and healthy.

Colon cleanse has become a buzzword as it has been determined that the origin of most disease starts in the colon. The impaction of fecal matter that lines the walls of the colon without being eliminated can easily be 15 pounds. Decay and putrefaction in the bowl throws the immune system in extreme overload, ridding the body of toxins and trying to fight off disease. If the immune system fails, disease grows in the body.

Irritable bowel syndrome can be controlled before permanent damage is done to the colon. Herbal colon cleanse is the most effective on a long-term use. Herbal colon detoxification is also called colon cleanse. High fiber foods in the diet are natural scrubbing agents for the colon to cleanse the cilia that absorb nutrients.

Constipation is not all corrected with a laxative. Drink 5 glasses of water a day. Avoid excess bread and pastry. Augment your diet with foods high in fiber. Choose an intestinal formula supplement that will stimulate the peristaltic action in your bowel and strengthens the colon muscles.

Avoid harsh laxatives that are not all natural. Dependence on over the counter laxatives can lead to weakened elimination muscles and loss of natural body function.

It is claimed that all habits can be learned in 21 days. In the next three weeks try an intestinal herbal formula and make time to eliminate within 30 minutes of eating. Your body is designed to heal itself if you do not override the master plan.

Using Enemas – Beneficial For Us?

Enemas have been used for a lot of years and for different reasons. Most commonly, they are used as a laxative for constipation or for an impaction where fecal matter has packed tightly together to the point that the person has become unable to have a bowel movement. Among the ingredients in enemas, tap water alone is often used to distend the bowel. Glycerin or sorbitol are common ingredients, as well. Mineral oil, saline, and stool softeners may also be added.

Laxatives that can be bought without a prescription are usually saline enemas. These are sold in ready-to-use packaging for adults and for children. These enemas can be effective if used as directed and not in excess.

Constipation is defined as less than three bowel movements in one week. Some people think if you do not have a bowel movement every day, then you are constipated. Everybody is not the same, and should not assume they need treatment if they don’t have daily bowel movements.

Many of us don’t eat enough fiber in our diets, and that can lead to constipation. Fiber moves the waste through the colon where it is prepared for excretion out of the rectum. Without fiber, the waste slows down and the colon may remove too much water. Stools become dry and hard and that leads to constipation. Some people believe that this dried feces may become trapped in the colon and never leave the body. Many of these people us colon cleansers or enemas to clean out their colons and rid them of the dried feces.

Some people don’t always pay attention when they have the urge to have a bowel movement. Some of them simply can’t stand to go to the bathroom anywhere other than their home. After suppressing the urge for so long, the urge can go away and constipation will be one of many possible problems. Children often experience this because they don’t want to quit playing and take time out to go to the bathroom when they’re doing something they enjoy.

Fecal impaction often occurs to those whose physical mobility is limited. Nursing home patients experience this condition frequently and are often treated effectively with enemas. Anyone whose movement is restricted due to health or injury is at risk of having a fecal impaction.

Using enemas can be safe if used when necessary under the right conditions. There are not many things you can do to help yourself in one way that doesn’t carry the risk of hurting you in another. Using enemas is no different. If used to excess, you can literally become addicted to them. If your body learns to depend on laxatives in order to have a bowel movement, it will get to the point where it can’t have one without using one.

There are always some minor risks of tearing the colon with the nozzle of the enema, causing chemical or mineral imbalances due to the introduction of those contained in the enemas, or damage to the rectal tissue. If used cautiously and infrequently, these risks remain minor. When you begin to use in excess as a means to clean out your colon on a regular basis, then the risk factor grows.

Enema – Constipation Relief Through Naturopathic Procedure

Constipation is the root of a host of major and minor ailments. No other natural therapy is as efficient as enema in curing constipation. Enema is a safe way to get rid of the wastes that have accreted in the large intestine.

An enema with warm water (from one to one and a half liters) should be taken daily when you are on diet of fruits or are fasting. If you do not take an enema, there is no benefit to be derived from fasting or living on fruits alone.

Equipment for Enema

The equipment for enema consists of an enameled container for water, a plastic tube about 5 feet in length, a tap for regulating the flow of water, and a catheter, or nozzle. A small bakelite catheter is available, but it would be more advisable to purchase a No. 24 plastic catheter, which is much more convenient.

Method of Enema

1. Lie down on a hard bed; the foot of the bed must be four inches higher than the head. Of course, you can take enema while lying on the floor, but in that case your buttocks should be higher than the rest of your body in order to facilitate the introduction of the liquid through the rectum.

2. The vessel consisting the hot water for the enema should be suspended from a nail at a height of three feet from the body. The nozzle should be introduced in the rectum to allow the water to go in.

3. If you raise your knee, it would facilitate the introduction of the enema into the rectum.

4. Check that the nozzle is not blocked; in that process some of the liquid should be allowed to run off. That will also ensure that there is no air trapped in the tube which may penetrate the intestine with the enema.

5. Let the water go into the rectum; retain it for two to three minutes before you visit the toilet.

6. Do not strain at the stools after an enema. Straining will not help clean the bowels as they should be cleaned.

In the case of ordinary costiveness, a strengthening enema is advised. For that about 250 milliliters of cold water should be introduced into the intestines and retained for five to ten minutes. Cold water enervates the intestine. Such an enema can be taken daily and even twice in the day if one feels like it. But it should be taken the last thing at night before retiring. It will not harm you even if you take it for months on end.

Whether the enema water is small in quantity or not, you must let the water come out of its own. Do not strain, nor be in a hurry. In the beginning you might have to spend up to half an hour in the toilet after you have taken the enema.
