Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are dilated or bulging veins of the rectum and anus, caused by increased pressure in the rectal veins. They involve the blood vessels that line the anus. Pressure on the walls of the rectum weakens the muscles that support the hemorrhoidal vessels. They then become enlarged and lose their support and result in a sac-like protrusion inside the rectal canal or under the skin around the anus. Now, what are examples of home treatment for hemorrhoids?

Number one: Use psyllium seeds. The most common cause of hemorrhoids is a low-fiber diet, which causes constipation and leads to small and hard stools that are difficult to pass. Because of its high fiber and mucilage content, psyllium or flea seed is commonly used as a natural laxative to treat constipation. To make Psyllium fiber a part of your daily diet, take one teaspoon of Psyllium seeds in an 8 ounce glass of water in the morning for one week. In the second week, add another glass with your lunch. After the second week, make it a habit to take Psyllium seeds three times daily.
Number two: Take sitz baths. When hemorrhoids are sore, sitz baths are the best and easiest way to get quick relief. This is because warm water relaxes the sphincter muscle, which can help soothe the pain associated with hemorrhoid protrusions. In order to prepare for a sitz bath, fill your bath with three to four inches of warm water. Do not add anything to the water. Sit in the tub for fifteen minutes several times a day.
Number three: Apply petroleum jelly or zinc oxide paste. According to studies, these two substances work as well as other expensive creams. After wiping, dab a small amount of either petroleum jelly or zinc oxide paste on a cotton ball and apply to the swollen area.
Aside from these three, you can find a home treatment for hemorrhoids that works best for your condition.
